This is the blog of the New Earswick Philosophy group. It meets in Red Lodge retirement home, and in the Folk Hall. We call it P4U. Short for Philosophy For You.
We have free-ranging discussions about the things that matter to us, and sometimes things that don’t matter to us too much. So long as it’s enjoyable.
The group is a voluntary continuation of a long-running Joseph Rowntree Foundation Community Philosophy project (see report here) in New Earswick. The project had brought together young people and old, for ‘intergenerational philosophical dialogue’. Although what we’re doing now is nowhere near as dynamic and large-scale as the earlier project, we’re managing to keep the enthusiasm and value of that work.
